Ten fisheries are operational across the country, but there are plans to increase the number to 50 within the next two years, according to Sultan bin Alwan, of the Ministry of Environment and Water. He said the ministry is developing a plan to attract private sector investment in fish farming in the UAE.
The ministry will hold a fish farming exhibition on March 16-18, the first of its kind in the Middle East. A large number of Arab and global fish farming companies are expected to participate.
