ABU DHABI // The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation is to host public forums in two northern emirates about nuclear energy.

The forums are intended to introduce Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah residents to the authority’s role in ensuring safe, secure and peaceful uses of nuclear energy in the UAE, state news agency Wam reported.

The authority regularly hosts forums to inform residents about the country’s peaceful nuclear power programme as well as nuclear safety and security.

The Ras Al Khaimah programme is scheduled for January 27 and Fujairah’s for January 28.

Senior officials from the nuclear authority are expected to discuss its work, scholarship and employment opportunities, and its responsibility within the nuclear programme.

The country hopes to have four operational plants by 2020.
