SHARJAH // Search and rescue teams have recovered the body of a 20-year-old man who drowned on Saturday while swimming with a friend off Al Humariah beach.

Police said search teams from the coastguard were joined by two helicopters – one from the armed forces and the other from the Ministry of Interior – to look for M A, a Comoros Islands passport holder.

His body was eventually located on Sunday afternoon.

Sharjah emergency services were alerted to two swimmers who were in difficulties at 7pm on Saturday. Emergency crews were dispatched as well as the coastguard.
