ABU DHABI // Khalifa Park, one of the city's largest and most popular public spaces, will be closed from Tuesday for about six weeks for renovations.
Abu Dhabi Municipality has announced the temporary closure of the 45-hectare site, next to the Eastern Ring Road.
But the Murjan Splash Park, a favourite feature for children, will remain open.
Khalifa Park was built in 2007 and is home to the Maritime Heritage Museum.
It has attracted more visitors than any other public park in the capital so far this year, with nearly 110,000 by the end of August, the municipality said.
“Khalifa Park has become a tourist and entertainment landmark,” said a spokesman for the civic body.
“It is a favourite destination for families since it boasts the highest standards of safety and security, and offers many utilities that attract different segments of the community.”
