An Emirati family that were trapped in a burning villa were rescued early this morning.
The father and four children were helped down from the roof of the villa in Al Ain's Umm Ghafa area by Civil Defence rescuers after a call to the operations room at 4.18am.
The director of Al Ain Civil Defence, lieutenant colonel Rashid Al Darmaki, stated that the rescue team was immediately dispatched to the scene, where they helped the family escape after they had made it to the roof of the villa in an attempt to escape the flames and smoke.
Meanwhile, another team worked on containing the fire that had started in the villa's living area.
An investigation has been launched to identify the cause and circumstances of the fire.
