DUBAI // Egyptians are being invited to take selfies to illustrate the face of a nation that will be displayed at the official opening at the New Suez Canal in Ismailia on August 6.

The Suez Canal Authority is inviting the nation and Egyptians around the world to photograph themselves and share their pictures in recognition of the public’s support.

Mohab Mameesh, chairman and managing director of the SCA, said: “Egyptians from all walks of life have played their part in one of the most anticipated and ambitious projects of the 21st century, these are the unsung heroes and they truly deserve to be recognised for their efforts.”

Photos will be used on the campaign website and in a collage as a pictorial tribute to stand proudly behind president Abdel Fattah El Sisi during the opening ceremony.

Development of the New Suez Canal, which has involved the UAE’s National Marine Dredging Company, has been built by a workforce of 43,000 Egyptians.

To participate, Egyptians can upload captioned self-portraits, or photos of friends and family to www.682015.com.
