UAE foundation donates books to Yemen libraries

DUBAI // Visitors to Yemen's public libraries will soon be enjoying books donated by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation.

Books covering a wide range of topics, including management, history, heritage and success stories, will be distributed in Yemen.

The foundation has partnered with Galleria Saraya, a small and medium-sized enterprise in the UAE, in this initiative.

It follows the directives of the UAE Government to support reading and knowledge locally, regionally and globally, said Jamal bin Huwaireb, the foundation’s managing director.

Aisha Al Jasmi, Galleria Saraya’s general manager, said: “As a national institution and as part of our responsibility to society, we are keen to contribute and support humanitarian campaigns that work to spread culture.”

The initiative is part of the Reading Nation campaign, launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, at the start of Ramadan. More than Dh80 million in donations were raised to provide more than 8.2 million books underprivileged children.
