DUBAI // Only 48 pupils have been withdrawn by their parents from an American school in the emirate that had its operating licence suspended last month.
The Dubai American Scientific School defied a ban on enrolling new pupils after repeatedly failing inspections and had its licence suspended by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) earlier this month.
Parents of 125 new pupils at the school were informed that their transfer letters certificates would not be attested if they continued there.
Abdulrahman Nassir, the executive director of Customers Relations, said withdrawn pupils had been placed across 10 schools.
In general, the authority does not permit transfers to schools after October 15. It has not specified if it will make an exception in this case.
