ABU DHABI // Khalifa University will open the country’s first flight research centre in the second quarter of this year.
Dr Mohammed Al Mualla, the university’s senior vice president for research and development, said the centre will conduct research on new technology for the manufacture of aircraft parts.
At present, these parts are mostly handmade, so the centre aims to automate the process with robots.
Dr Al Mualla told Al Ittihad, the Arabic language sister paper of The National, that Khalifa University has the laboratories, simulators and all the tools necessary to provide the practical courses in engineering and aviation science.
