The importance of scientific research has grown so much that it now represents the basis of the future in all fields, a conference heard on Sunday.
Talking at the Scientific Students Conference at Ajman University, Dr Zein Al Rizk, dean of the Institute of Environment, Water and Energy, said scientific research was “the engine of progress in all developed nations”.
In his conference speech Dr Al Rizk stressed the importance of research for the university’s development.
“Research is one of the five standards on which AUST philosophy is built,” he said. “Scientific research should become an everyday practice for all of our AUST community.
“It is the engine of progress in all developed nations and no genuine reform or development can be successfully carried out without given the required position and providing the necessary tangible and intangible support to research.
“The importance of scientific research has grown over the recent years. It now represents the basis of the future in all fields.”
Dr Vijay Desai, assistant professor of the College of Dentistry and organiser of the conference said: “The students enthusiastically present their projects and research on this platform and have been doing so for a decade now.
“They showcase their work in the presence of experts and peers, which not only boosts their confidence but encourages them to take their projects and research to other platforms and a more professional level.”
Dr Desai added that the conference “has witnessed tremendous improvement in the quality of research”.
“The graduating students have put theory to practice in their respective fields before presenting their creations at the conference,” he said.
