ABU DHABI // More than one hundred students aspiring to become the future faces of Emirati diplomacy have completed a training course at the Emirates Diplomatic Academy.
The three-day course, held at the academy in Abu Dhabi, provided UAE Youth Ambassador Programme students a foundation in the art of statesmenship through lessons in protocol, etiquette, negotiation, communication and country analysis.
Bernardino Leon, the academy’s director general, said the course was established to offer particpants a better understanding of diplomacy to help them make informed strategic decisions.
“Emirates Diplomatic Academy complements academic knowledge with practical aspects of international relations to prepare the next generation of diplomatic cadre,” said the Spanish diplomat, who began heading the academy in December last year.
Sessions focused on topics including summit diplomacy, multilateral negotiations and ceremonial procedures.
