ABU DHABI // Twenty top graduates with special needs who completed a UAE-funded training course were honoured by UAE and Egyptian officials in Cairo on Monday.
The UAE has provided Dh300 million to qualify 100,000 young Egyptian males and females in 23 governorates within nine months for jobs in different professional and technical sectors.
The project is aimed at linking training activities with the demands of the labour market in raising awareness for the importance of technical training.
About 767 Egyptian special needs individuals completed the training in different streams.
The first phase of ‘Training for Employment’ launched in October.
Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of State, Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour, Egyptian minister of trade, industry and investment, and Mervat Al Tellaw of Egypt’s National Council for Women, honoured the students.
“This training project is part of the UAE’s efforts to assist Egypt to achieve sustainable development, based on the directives of our leaders who believe that investment in human capital and empowerment of educated generations is the best investment,” Dr Al Jaber said.
More than 5,000 individuals out of 14,765 trainees have graduated from the vocational training.
