Dubai teacher threatened by drunk man who broke into her flat, court told

DUBAI// A drunk man broke into a British teacher’s flat and threatened to kill her if she did not have sex with him, a court was told.

The Dubai Criminal Court heard how Emirati A A, 23, entered the flat in Al Barsha while 33-year-old T A was asleep on February 21 last year.

T A told prosecutors that she woke up to the sounds of A A breaking in.

When T A asked why A A had entered her home, he grabbed her mobile and smashed it, said T A, adding that she noticed that he was drunk.

“He pushed me and we started fighting, I was trying to calm him down just to find out why he was doing what he was doing, but in vain,” said T A.

The victim told prosecutors that A A threw her on the ground, stepped on her neck and demanded that the she pleasure him.

A A threatened to stab the teacher after she refused.

Prosecution charged A A with trespassing, threatening T A, damaging property and consuming alcohol without a license.

During interrogations, A A said that he was too drunk to remember what happened but he said he did not break in, but found the flat’s front door open.

The case has been referred to the Court of Misdemeanours.
