DUBAI// Two Asian men were arrested and four kilograms of heroin seized in an operation by Dubai Police.
Col Eid Mohammed Thani Hareb, director of the Anti-Narcotics Department, said the first suspect, 30-year-old N A M, was arrested near a bus station in Bur Dubai trying to sell an undercover police officer the drugs.
“The officer was posing as a drug dealer wanting to buy all the drugs from the suspect,” he said, adding: “N A M entered the country on a tourist visa based on instructions of a drug dealer, A G, who lives abroad.”
Col Hareb said the first suspect was working with a second Asian man, A A S, 35, who lived in Sharjah and was hiding the narcotics at his electronics store.
“With the help of Sharjah Police, we arrested the second suspect near a mall in the industrial area in Sharjah,” he said. “We found 4kgs of heroin in a cardboard box also carrying laptops in an electronics store the second suspect owned.”
Both men were transferred to public prosecution on charges of drug possession with the intent to sell.
