Dubai // A former Roads and Transport Authority employee charged with forging letters and commissioning a photographer to do Dh250,000 worth of work without approval has been cleared because there was no evidence.

A S, 34, was accused of forging three letters for two companies – one for entertainment services and another for professional photography.

The court heard that A S had agreed with J A, 27, a Lebanese photographer, to take images of Dubai’s bridges, tunnels and other spots in 2008 because the authority wanted to save them in their archive.

The man said he presented his offer to A S and she told him the authority approved, then handed him the documents of approval that he could use during the assignment.

The work took about five months, and then he handed A S 19 CDs containing the images.

“I asked her for Dh250,000 – the cost of the assignment and she started stalling,” J A said.

After he failed to get the money, J A said he met an official from the RTA who told him there was no records of any agreement. He then lodged a complaint at the RTA and was told A S had been suspended from work.

In court last February she denied forging official documents and using them.

Dubai Criminal Court acquitted her on Tuesday because of a lack of evidence.
