DUBAI // A drunk man trespassed into the house of a married couple then kissed the wife as her husband slept next to her, Dubai Criminal Court has heard.
Saudi defendant WJ drank half a bottle of Chivas Regal whisky before the incident on July 30, during Eid Al Fitr, prosecutors said.
He is charged with consuming alcohol, trespassing, sexual assault and attempting to steal the husband’s wallet.
In court, he denied all charges and said that he took the wallet by mistake.
Emirati wife MS, 26, said she was sleeping next to her husband when a kiss woke her up.
“I opened my eyes and saw the man who kisses me walking towards the corner of the bedroom and lighting up a cigarette – I was so scared and woke my husband up,” she said.
The husband, KA, 27, who is also Emirati, said: “She was in shock when she woke me up, and when I approached the man, I smelled alcohol on the man’s breath.”
The husband escorted the man to security guards, who called police.
Policeman KAA, 20 said that once the Saudi was in the patrol car, he was throwing away the money that he had with him.
A verdict is expected on November 17.
