DUBAI // A British tourist who allegedly molested an Emirates Airline flight attendant appeared in court on Monday.

The Criminal Court heard that on April 1 of this year, T H, 40, slapped the woman on the backside after drinking six miniature bottles of vodka on the flight from Bangkok to Dubai.

He denied the molestation charge but admitted to consuming alcohol without a licence.

“It was about 6am when I walked through the economy class section and near to the defendant’s seat,” said the flight attendant, K M.

“As I passed near his seat, he slapped me on my bottom and asked me to sit next to him. He then pulled my hand and kissed it without my approval.”

Her colleague on the flight, Tunisian S K, 26, testified that she heard the man repeatedly saying to K M “You bumped me with your bum”.

She told prosecutors that she did not understand what he meant until K M explained it to her.

The defendant’s lawyer presented his written defence to court and requested that his client be found not guilty.

A verdict is expected on June 16.
