DUBAI // A plane passenger is accused of carrying more than one kilogram of cocaine in his stomach.

Prosecutors said that Nigerian S N, 40, was arrested on November 16 last year while passing through Dubai International Airport carrying 80 capsules of the drug.

Policeman K A, 29, said that foreign objects were spotted by custom inspectors in his stomach when he passed through an X-ray scanner.

“We found 80 capsules in his stomach containing 1.69 kilograms of cocaine,” said K A.

He added that the man was referred to police then to Rashid Hospital to get the capsules out.

The defendant is in custody but was not present in court to answer charges against him. The next hearing was set for February 21 to summon him.
