Documentary follows Emirati recruits undergoing national service

ABU DHABI // A television documentary following the lives of Emirati recruits as they undergo their national service with the UAE military was broadcast last night.

The first episode in the four-part series Every Emirati's Son, was screened on National Geographic Abu Dhabi, part of Abu Dhabi Media.

It follows six Emiratis, aged 18 to 30, through their training.

Mohamed Ebraheem Al Mahmood, chairman and managing director of Abu Dhabi Media, said: “As a leading supporter of the nation’s initiatives, Abu Dhabi Media is committed to showcasing key aspects that relate to the Emirati community.

“This documentary gives an in-depth and unique look into the lives of recruits, particularly during their military service, highlighting all that the UAE’s national service encompasses. From the intensive training that they undergo, to the lifelong friendships that result – the UAE’s national service truly enforces national unity and further instils a sense of patriotism among Emirati nationals.”

Sanjay Raina, Middle East general manager at Fox International Channels, said: “We are excited to provide our viewers with a never-before-seen look into the UAE’s national service and the transformations that recruits have to go through as they adjust to rigorous training routines.”

Every Emirati's Son is broadcast on Mondays at 9.50pm.
