DUBAI // The Dar Al Ber Society held a free course on the jurisprudence of zakat, or charity, at the Salam Mosque in Al Barsha 2.

Led by scholar Dr Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Rais Al Rais, the lectures were based on the Bulugh Al Maram heritage book of the late Sheikh Ahmed bin Hajar Al Asqalani, reported Wam, the state news agency.

The class shed light on the provisions, principles, types, amounts and conditions of zakat, or alms, be it mandatory or optional.

“Dr Rais also urged the audience to give for charity, promising great rewards, and warned against neglecting such inevitable pillar of Islam as reported by Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him),” said Imran Abdullah, board member and head of charity projects at Dar Al Ber Society.
