Daman members to receive authorisation of requests via SMS

Daman, the National Health Insurance Company, will now send members an SMS revealing the status of their medical authorisation requests.

Daman has 2.4 million members and receives between 90,000 to 95,000 requests a month.

Members will know immediately when Daman receives an authorisation request and when it responds.

An authorisation reference number will be given for follow-up.

To protect patients' privacy, the member's name and facility will not be shown and the SMS will only show the last four digits of the membership card.

Prior authorisation is not required for life-threatening emergencies.
