ABU DHABI // Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, has offered his condolences to the family of Mohammed Khalaf Al Mazrouei, a heritage adviser to the Crown Prince and former chairman of Abu Dhabi Media who died in a car crash on Thursday afternoon.
Sheikh Mohammed spoke to Mr Al Mazrouei’s family, who include Staff Maj Gen Pilot Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Critical Infrastructure and Coastal Protection Authority.
The New York Film Academy also paid its respects to Mr Al Mazrouei by creating a memorial internet page in his honour.
Mr Al Mazrouei, who was killed alongside two others in a crash outside Zayed City Cemetery, had worked closely with NYFA to establish the Film Academy in Abu Dhabi.
“We express our profound sadness at the tragic loss today of HE Mohammed Khalaf Al Mazrouei. He has been a great leader and friend of the New York Film Academy,” said a spokesman for the academy.
“We share our deepest sympathies and extend condolences to his family, the people of Abu Dhabi, and all who knew him.”
Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, were among the dignitaries who performed funeral prayers, reported state news agency WAM.
