DUBAI // A dispute between three Indian labourers over money led to one of them being stabbed to death in his room.

SR, 27, and 24-year-old JA have been charged with premeditated murder after RR was found in a pool of blood in his room in Al Muhaisnah 2 on June 16.

He had been stabbed several times in the back, chest and thighs, causing internal bleeding that eventually led to his death.

"RR had previously assaulted SR over a financial dispute between the two after which SR decided to kill him," said prosecutor Younis Al Bloushi.

SR plotted with JA and after the two consumed alcohol, prosecutors said they visited the victim in his room, taking him by surprise and stabbing him.

Fellow labourers found RR and called police. The accused were arrested hours later and confessed but claimed they did not mean to end his life.

The pair will appear before the Dubai Criminal Court charged with premeditated murder. They will also be referred to the Misdemeanours Court to face a charge of illegal consumption of alcohol.
