An aggrieved customer who sparked a massage parlour brawl after his phone and cash were stolen has won an appeal against the severity of his prison sentence.

The Egyptian man, and two compatriots who had been waiting for him outside, stormed into the first-floor apartment in Al Baraha, Dubai, after he realised his iPhone and Dh100 had been taken while he had his massage.

The three, aged 27 to 29, launched an angry revenge attack, placing a worker in a chokehold with a stick, before stealing a Dh80 Nokia mobile phone, a Dh500 watch and Dh700 in cash from him.

They also snatched a Lenovo mobile phone, an iPhone-5s, and Dh8,000 in cash during the violent raid, while masseuses jumped from the window in fear of their lives.

The three assailants also required hospital treatment for injuries sustained in the fracas.

Police were called by a witness and the men were arrested at the scene.

The incident took place on December 30, 2015.

The three men were each sentenced to two years in prison on an armed robbery charge at Dubai Criminal Court last year.

Their jail terms were cut to six months each at Dubai Court of Appeal after evidence that the parlour's operators had started the violence and were armed with swords.
