Court upholds accquital of Dubai security guard cleared of molesting co-worker

A security guard in Dubai has been cleared of molesting a female co-worker by the Dubai Court of Appeal

DUBAI// The Dubai Court of Appeal has upheld the acquittal of a security guard accused of molesting a female colleague.

Prosecutors appealed the acquittal of Indian AM, 48, who denied the sexual assault charge at the Dubai Criminal Court last May.

Female security guard BA, claimed in records that AM had constantly molested her and asked her to be his girlfriend and when she refused he suspended her from work for a month.

“I reported him to the administration but no action was taken,” said BA.

She added that AM had asked her to meet on July 1 last year to hand her her salary. He passed by her residence in his car and picked her up.

“When I sat next to him he touched my thighs and breast and other parts of my body, I pushed his hand away and then he asked me why had I rejected his offer to become his mistress and said that he was good looking,” said BA.

She told prosecutors that this incident was not his first of its kinds and that he had been molesting her for over a month.

Kenyan security guard NN 33, testified that AM molested her colleague in front of her at his car.

“He drives us home after work in the company car, I was sitting in the back seat and BA in the front seat, he touched her breasts and thighs, she immediately pushed his hand back and angrily shouted at him and told him that she is a respected married woman and doesn’t want a relationship with him,” he said.

NN claimed that AM got angry when BA turned him down and suspended her from work.

BA said in records that she confronted him but he told that he is her boss and he can do whatever he likes. BA then reported him to the police.

The reason for the acquittal was not made immediately available.
