DUBAI // A 36-year-old man will spend five months in jail for molesting his neighbour’s daughter.
Dubai Criminal Court convicted Bangladeshi M A of sexual assault in December but he appealed the sentence and lost on Sunday morning when the appeal court upheld the jail term.
On July 11 last year, his 10-year-old Egyptian victim was playing in the corridor of the building where she lived when the defendant molested her. The girl was scared and did not tell her family.
But when M A sexually assaulted her again the following day, she told her mother.
“My wife called me and said something bad happened to our daughter but did not specify what it was until I went home,” said the girl’s father, H S, 40.
Once home, his daughter told him that the Bangladeshi had hugged her and kissed her then pointed at the parts of her body which the man had touched.
M A will be deported after serving his jail term.
