DUBAI // A man has been found guilty of threatening to kill an associate while trying to claim back US$1 million (Dh3.67m) from a business deal.

The Dubai Criminal Court was told that N N, 33, who did not appear to enter a plea, was charged with sending threatening texts to Canadian M S H, 36, about German M S, 39, in January, 2011.

One of the messages M S H received read: “M S will be executed,” while another said: “In few days, you will hear news of M S’s death.”

M S said N N had asked that he return US$1 million to a woman, identified as N P, with whom M S had done business in the past.

During police investigations, N N confessed to the charges. At Dubai Criminal Court, N N was sentenced to three months in jail to be followed by deportation.
