DUBAI // A businessman who was having a fight threatened two other men with a meat cleaver when they tried to break up the fight.
The Dubai Criminal Court heard on Sunday morning that Emiratis YP, 37, and EA, 40, were leaving a mosque after prayers when they noticed two men fighting.
“As I walked closer to the two men fighting, I heard one of them threatening everyone around against interfering, then he pulled out a meat cleaver from under his clothes and waved it in the air,” YP said.
EA said as he tried to break up the fight he received a phone call. “I held my phone to answer then the defendant accused me of making a recording of him so he snatched my Samsung and smashed it on the floor.”
EA then called the police.
When the defendant, KJ, 36, Emirati was arrested he threatened the other two men, saying he would kill them, records show.
KJ was not present in court to enter a plea against charges of issuing threats to kill and of damaging property.
A verdict is expected on March 17.
