DUBAI // Budding young footballers in the Northern Emirates will get a chance to show their talents this weekend as the du Football Champions inter schools competition kicks off.
With an opportunity to train with the likes of Ballon D’or winner Lionel Messi up for grabs, more than 2,000 players will be vying to impress scouts from some of Spain’s elite football clubs over the next three weeks.
The northern leg of the tournament follows the Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Gharbia stages which concluded at the end of last year.
The competition is the first youth football platform offering young top talents in the UAE the chance to earn a pro-football career on an international and national level.
Prizes include an all-expenses paid 14-day trip to Spain for training and competitive matches with La Liga’s best youth football clubs.
