DUBAI // A Briton threatened to kill and bury a man if he did not repay money owed, a court heard on Tuesday.

Sales manager J S, 45, was charged with threatening and insulting Bangladeshi M A, 31, while M A was charged with insulting the Briton.

He told prosecutors that on November 19, the Briton sent him several text messages in which he insulted him.

“He then sent me a message telling me that he would kill me and bury me in the sand,” said the Bangladeshi.

He said the Briton insulted his honour by saying he would have sex with his mother and that his mother was an indecent woman.

M A gave police what he said were the text messages sent to him by J S.

Records did not show the nature of relations between the two and why money had been lent.

The Briton said M A also insulted him with his suggestion that if he wanted money, his wife and mother should work as prostitutes.

J S told prosecutors that MA also insulted his mother by saying she was indecent.

The two were not present in court to enter pleas. The next hearing is scheduled for September 2.
