DUBAI // A Briton who threatened to kill a man and bury his body if he did not repay his debts has been jailed.

Dubai Criminal Court on Sunday heard that sales manager J S, 45, was charged with threatening and insulting M A, 31, a Bangladeshi. M A was in turn charged with insulting J S. Both were convicted of the charges, with J S receiving a three-month jail term and M A receiving one month in absentia.

M A told prosecutors that on November 19, J S had sent him several insulting text messages.

“He then sent me a message telling me that he would kill me and bury me in the sand,” he said.

M A said J S had insulted his honour by saying he would have sex with his mother and that his mother was an indecent woman.

M A provided police with the text messages.

Records did not show the nature of the relationship between the two or why money had been lent.

J S retaliated by saying M A also insulted him by saying if he wanted money he should make his wife and mother work as prostitutes.
