DUBAI// A 33-year-old baker who molested a woman then assaulted and insulted her when she defended herself has been jailed for three months.

“No I did not do that, I’m not guilty,” said Afghan AG when he appeared at Dubai Criminal Court last month.

Prosecutors said that on February 27 this year Filipina JC, 34, was in a shop in Bur Dubai when the baker touched her behind and neck.

The woman said she screamed at AG and hit his hand, after which he slapped her on the face. When the woman lost her balance and fell to the ground, AG kicked her in the abdomen and insulted her.

“He did so in the presence of many people in the shop,” said JC, who called police.

Records show that AG confessed to kicking the woman. In court he denied charges of molestation, issuing insults and physical assault. He told the court that the woman had dropped the charges against him and provided judges with a document as proof. However, he was found guilty and jailed. He will be deported after completing his sentence.
