Nearly 1,600 road accidents were reported to Dubai Police over Eid, it was revealed yesterday.
The Command and Control Centre received 24,838 calls during the holiday, with 1,598 road accidents logged, said Lt Col Khazraj Mohammad, the acting director.
Speeding, tailgating, not paying attention and swerving were among the causes.
Drivers are urged to be careful, especially at junctions and pedestrian crossings. Lt Zayed Al Baadani, head of monitoring and analysis, asked the public to only dial 999 in an emergency, and to call 901 for enquiries.
