ABU DHABI // The 10th Al Dhafra Festival was launched on Wednesday under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
The festival, which runs until December 29, takes place in the Western Region and is free to attend. It features contests, such as the camel beauty contest, races and other events celebrating Emirati heritage.
Falconry will also play a major part in this year’s festival as organisers look to motivate a new generation to continue traditions.
Since its inception, the festival has grown year-on-year to the extent that there were 13,000 participants last year.
