Air patrols monitor Abu Dhabi traffic weekly

The Abu Dhabi Police Air Wing said it is continuously monitoring traffic from the sky, particularly during peak hours, with at least nine air patrols being dispatched across the emirate's territories on a weekly basis.

At least three air patrols monitor traffic on the city roads and motorways of Abu Dhabi, three in Al Ain and another three in the Western Region every week, according to Staff Brig Pilot Ali Mohammed Al Mazrouei, head of the Air Wing department.

"The air crew includes two pilots, a doctor and a thermograph operator," Brig Al Mazrouei said, noting that the device transmits live images to the Abu Dhabi Police's central operations room during the missions, and is especially handy at night.

"The presence of the doctor during these air patrols boosts the efficiency of our response in the event of a serious road crash that requires tending to the injured and taking them to hospital," he added.
