Abu Dhabi Police launch bicycle patrols

Abu Dhabi Police have launched bicycle patrols to cut response times. The patrols will cover tourist areas, residential neighbourhoods and commercial centres throughout the island of Abu Dhabi.

Officers on bike can often reach accidents and crime scenes quicker than colleagues in cars by using side roads.

Each patrol consists of two officers on bikes that are fitted with emergency lights to distinguish them from civilian bicycles.

Some of the officers will wear special police uniforms while other wear civilian clothes.
