A team petrol pump attendants have been thanked for their quick actions and bravery after a supercar burst into flames on a station forecourt.
The accident happened at the Adnoc station on Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Street.
A video showed the vehicle catching fire and the attendants around it quickly grabbing extinguishers before it could spread.
"Adnoc managed successfully to control the fire in 10 seconds that proves the implementation of the best safety measures and standards," said Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, who posted the video on his Twitter account on Sunday.
A spokesperson for Abu Dhabi National Oil Company said: “The safety of our staff, customers and the communities in which we operate is the number one priority for Adnoc and Adnoc distribution. We are very proud of the way our employees responded to this incident in a professional and swift manner."
On Saturday, the Ministry of Interior said the five employees were honoured by the General Directorate of the Civil Defence and Adnoc for their courage and professionalism.
“The General Directorate of the Civil Defence and Abu Dhabi National Oil Distribution Company (ADNOC) honoured 5 employees at the Riddan Service Station located at Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street in Al Mashreq area of Abu Dhabi for their ability to implement the basic rules necessary to protect ADNOC Distribution Stations from any risk as a first line of defence to support the priorities of the Civil Defence of Abu Dhabi.”
