The historic roles of trade and migration in shaping and enriching Emirati culture were the focus of the latest instalment of the Multaqa Zayed National Museum series at Manarat Al Saadiyat cultural centre.

Held this week on Saadiyat Island, the second and latest instalment of the series titled “Music of a Nation: Cultural Harmony” was led by Khaled Al Budoor, a writer and researcher, Ibrahim Juma of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Centre, and Dr Aisha Bilkhair, a research adviser at the National Archives.

Participants discussed the evidence of centures of trade and migration in the region seen in traditional musical instruments and songs.

The series will include three additional discussions at Manarat Al Saadiyat over the coming months. The faith and humanitarian of Sheikh Zayed, the Founding Father, will be discussed at the next talk on April 26.

The talks aim to provide an opportunity for audiences to explore the richness of Emirati culture, and take part in shaping the national museum’s identity into a centre truly representative of the UAE.
