ABU DHABI // A butchery in the capital has been ordered to close because of unhygienic practices, such as selling out-of-date meat products and selling frozen meat as fresh meat.

Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority said that Al Fawz Butchery had failed to comply with health and safety requirements, reported Aletihad, the Arabic-language sister paper of The National.

Thamer Al Qasimi, acting director of communications and community service, said the management had failed to rectify the situation of the establishment and eliminate the causes of the offences.

Inspectors issued two fines to the butchery, one last month and one this month, before the authority ordered its closure.
