A Dubai-based humanitarian is set to run her most gruelling marathon yet for her charity.
Maria Conceicao, founder of the Maria Cristina Foundation, a charity whose initiatives include helping send slum children in poor countries to school, will be part of a four-runner team to take on the 777 Challenge, an extreme sporting event that sees runners tackle seven marathons of 42km each in seven continents in as many days.
From Australia, runners will continue their course in Abu Dhabi, then onto Europe, Africa, North America, South America, and finally, Antarctica for the last stop.
