33 attempts to steal power station equipment in Abu Dhabi since January

Abu Dhabi Distribution Company said there were 33 attempts to steal equipment so far this year.

ABU DHABI // There have been 33 attempts to steal power network equipment so far this year, according to Abu Dhabi Distribution Company.

ADDC, which is affiliated with the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority, has warned against tampering at power stations and water distribution networks.

Abdullah Al Suwaidi, chief executive of the Operating Department at ADDC, said that all the power network components are built in a safe way and posed no danger to the public, and that staff were highly trained to safely handle the network.

The 33 cases logged have all been sent on to police.

Mr Al Suwaidi urged the public to report any suspicious activity around power and water distribution networks by calling 800 2332.
