Six fraudsters who stole Dh460,000 from various victims in Abu Dhabi were arrested less than 24 hours after carrying out their crime, Abu Dhabi Police said on Thursday.
Officers from specialist units in Mussaffah and Misrad were able to track down the men and recover the currency using artificial intelligence, the force said.
Authorities did not reveal anything about the precise nature of the fraudulent acts or when the incidents took place, but photographs posted on the force's social media page showed the six men in front of a table with piles of recovered currency.
Maj Gen Mohammed Al Rashidi, director of Abu Dhabi Police’s Criminal Security Sector, said the use of advanced technology such as AI was important for law enforcement.
“It is part of our strategy to respond and deal with reports quickly,” he said.
