ABU DHABI // An Emirati with special needs and a child who had been missing for two days in Germany have been found.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that Twairish Isa Jaber Al Khaili, 20, and 6-year-old Ahmed Suhail Al Khaili, who went missing in Munich on Wednesday, have been found at a shelter home in Nuremberg.

The UAE Ambassador to Germany, Juma Mubarak Al Junaibi, on Friday said officials from the UAE consulate in the Bavarian capital headed to the shelter and brought them back to their family, state news agency Wam reported.

On Wednesday, the ministry received a note that the two were missing in Munich and immediately started coordinating search efforts while the ambassador notified the German police.

Mr Al Junaibi said Munich police, federal police, diplomats from the UAE consulate and Emiratis in Munich joined the search operation. He thanked the German authorities and the Emirati and German people who helped in the search.

The ministry has urged Emirati citizens travelling abroad to closely monitor their children, especially those with special needs.
