DUBAI // Three people were arrested on suspicion of attempting to traffic a woman, Dubai Police said on Friday.

“Had the woman not known the emergency number 999 of Dubai Police, she would have been the victim her so-called friend and two ill-intentioned men,” the force said on Facebook. “The unsuspecting victim accompanied her friend to an apartment, where they were later joined by two Arab men.

“She did not feel at ease with the whole atmosphere, excused herself to the bathroom and called the police.”

The woman, whose name was not disclosed, did not know her location but the police were able to track her down. In the meantime, they took her friend’s number and notified her that they knew she was up to no good.

The three suspects were arrested trying to get away in a vehicle parked outside the apartment building.

Brig Omar Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, deputy director of the General Directorate of Operations at Dubai Police, said that there are 70 police officers working in three shifts that respond to emergency calls around the clock.
