The National's Sport cover for the Wednesday, February 25 issue, featuring Novak Djokovic after winning his opening match at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships on Tuesday.
Djokovic, in search of his 50th ATP title in Dubai, breezed by Canadian Vasek Pospisil and will next meet Andrey Golubev in the ATP 500 tournament.
Covering the tournament, Gary Meenaghan writes quotes Djokovic:
“I didn’t have any special celebration for 40th or 30th, but I think as 50th is something unique, I’ll make it count,” setting up for what could be a stirring run at the Aviation Club by the world No 1.
“First match since Australian Open final, so still looking for that rhythm on the court,” Djokovic told Meenaghan. “But I managed to stay mentally tough and patient in rallies. My serve wasn’t at the level where I wanted it to be today, so hopefully the next match can be better.”
