Al Wahda players have been warned not to take Saturday night's Pro League visitors Dubai lightly.
The Abu Dhabi club have bounced back after losing their opening league match against Al Wasl 4-1, with victories overAl Shabab (1-0) and Kalba (6-0) and returned with a point from Al Ain following a goalless draw in their last Etisalat Cup match.
Confidence is high in the Wahda ranks after those matches, but Abdullah Saleh, a board member of the club's football company, warned against underestimating Dubai as they have taken a point from the capital club in each of their last two visits.
In the 2010/11 season, Wahda were held to a 2-2 draw by the visitors and last November, their match in Abu Dhabi finished 1-1.
"Dubai have managed to embarrass us at home in the last two seasons and they are a team worthy of respect," Saleh said.
"As history tell us, our matches against Dubai have always been tough and exciting. They usually play their best matches against us, but if we remain focused, we are confident our players can provide the expected result. It is an important game for us and we are looking for three points, especially since we are playing at home."
Wahda will be missing Ismail Matar for the game as he has been resting since his return from Germany on Tuesday night.
He is undergoing treatment for a knee injury and has been advised to take "72 hours of complete rest" after every session.
The Omani defender Mohammed Al Shaibah could also be missing after being injured while on national duty in the 2014 World Cup qualifier against Jordan on Tuesday.
Tests are being conducted to determine the extent of his injury.
Dubai have no such injury concerns and Khalid Al Kaabi, the director of football at the club, is hoping his team can make some progress after losing their last two games - 3-2 to Baniyas in the Pro League and 4-2 against Al Ain in the Etisalat Cup.
"We are looking to turn the tide after those two defeats," he said.
"We have an opportunity to get a positive result at Al Wahda and our players realise the importance of this game.
"It is going to be a difficult game, but we trust in the abilities of our players."
ZENGA WANTS NO SLIP-UPS AGAINST KALBA
Walter Zenga has described Saturday night's game between his Pro League leaders Al Nasr and bottom-placed Kalba as one the most difficult matches for his team.
Kalba have lost all their five Etisalat Cup and league matches this season, conceding 17 goals in the process, and while most would consider this to be an easy outing for Nasr, Zenga said it is a potential banana skin and a contest that needs to be taken seriously.
"I would prefer to play Al Ahli, Al Shabab and Al Wahda because I know what to expect," the Italian coach of Nasr said.
"But with Kalba you don't know. They have not won a game up to now, but that does not mean they cannot win this one. Last year, we lost 1-0 to Dubai and they were at the bottom of the table that time. So I really hope the players do not take this game lightly and believe Kalba cannot beat them.
"They should concentrate and play for a win."

Pupils in Abu Dhabi are learning the importance of being active, eating well and leading a healthy lifestyle now and throughout adulthood, thanks to a newly launched programme 'Healthy Lifestyle'.
As part of the Healthy Lifestyle programme, specially trained coaches from City Football Schools, along with Healthpoint physicians have visited schools throughout Abu Dhabi to give fun and interactive lessons on working out regularly, making the right food choices, getting enough sleep and staying hydrated, just like their favourite footballers.
Organised by Manchester City FC and Healthpoint, Manchester City FC’s regional healthcare partner and part of Mubadala’s healthcare network, the ‘Healthy Lifestyle’ programme will visit 15 schools, meeting around 1,000 youngsters over the next five months.
Designed to give pupils all the information they need to improve their diet and fitness habits at home, at school and as they grow up, coaches from City Football Schools will work alongside teachers to lead the youngsters through a series of fun, creative and educational classes as well as activities, including playing football and other games.
Dr Mai Ahmed Al Jaber, head of public health at Healthpoint, said: “The programme has different aspects - diet, exercise, sleep and mental well-being. By having a focus on each of those and delivering information in a way that children can absorb easily it can help to address childhood obesity."

Ten tax points to be aware of in 2026
1. Domestic VAT refund amendments: request your refund within five years
If a business does not apply for the refund on time, they lose their credit.
2. E-invoicing in the UAE
Businesses should continue preparing for the implementation of e-invoicing in the UAE, with 2026 a preparation and transition period ahead of phased mandatory adoption.
3. More tax audits
Tax authorities are increasingly using data already available across multiple filings to identify audit risks.
4. More beneficial VAT and excise tax penalty regime
Tax disputes are expected to become more frequent and more structured, with clearer administrative objection and appeal processes. The UAE has adopted a new penalty regime for VAT and excise disputes, which now mirrors the penalty regime for corporate tax.
5. Greater emphasis on statutory audit
There is a greater need for the accuracy of financial statements. The International Financial Reporting Standards standards need to be strictly adhered to and, as a result, the quality of the audits will need to increase.
6. Further transfer pricing enforcement
Transfer pricing enforcement, which refers to the practice of establishing prices for internal transactions between related entities, is expected to broaden in scope. The UAE will shortly open the possibility to negotiate advance pricing agreements, or essentially rulings for transfer pricing purposes.
7. Limited time periods for audits
Recent amendments also introduce a default five-year limitation period for tax audits and assessments, subject to specific statutory exceptions. While the standard audit and assessment period is five years, this may be extended to up to 15 years in cases involving fraud or tax evasion.
8. Pillar 2 implementation
Many multinational groups will begin to feel the practical effect of the Domestic Minimum Top-Up Tax (DMTT), the UAE's implementation of the OECD’s global minimum tax under Pillar 2. While the rules apply for financial years starting on or after January 1, 2025, it is 2026 that marks the transition to an operational phase.
9. Reduced compliance obligations for imported goods and services
Businesses that apply the reverse-charge mechanism for VAT purposes in the UAE may benefit from reduced compliance obligations.
10. Substance and CbC reporting focus
Tax authorities are expected to continue strengthening the enforcement of economic substance and Country-by-Country (CbC) reporting frameworks. In the UAE, these regimes are increasingly being used as risk-assessment tools, providing tax authorities with a comprehensive view of multinational groups’ global footprints and enabling them to assess whether profits are aligned with real economic activity.

What is Reform?
Reform is a right-wing, populist party led by Nigel Farage, a former MEP who won a seat in the House of Commons last year at his eighth attempt and a prominent figure in the campaign for the UK to leave the European Union.
It was founded in 2018 and originally called the Brexit Party.
Many of its members previously belonged to UKIP or the mainstream Conservatives.
