The UAE will look to keep their slim hopes alive of reaching the World Twenty20 finals in India next February alive when they take to the field against Canada on Tuesday.

Mohammed Tauqir’s men have lost their opening three Group B World Twenty20 Qualifier games in Edinburgh against Scotland, Afghanistan and the Netherlands to be left rooted to the bottom of the group.

With four games remaining to be played, the UAE have to be perfect and hope other results go for them if they are to finish in the top four and qualify for the knockout stages.

They go up against Canada, who are also winless in the competition, and will hope a change of location will help them as they take the field in Stirling, with the game due to begin at 1pm.

The UAE’s other remaining games are against Kenya in Edinburgh on Wednesday and then against Oman, again in Edinburgh, on Friday.

Tuesday’s other matches see third-placed Netherlands take on Oman, while Scotland go up against Kenya.

The Africans and Afghanistan each earned a point after their game was abandoned without a ball being bowled at Stirling.

In Group A, Namibia consigned the United States to their third successive win as they charged to a seven-wicket win over the United States, with opener Gerrie Snyman striking 62 off 36 balls to top the scoring for the Namibians, while the match between Hong Kong and Papua New Guinea was rained off without a ball being bowled.

Ireland beat Nepal by eight wickets after bowling their opponents out for just 53.
