Transfer talk: Walcott welcomes new Arsenal player Gervinho

Arsenal

Theo Walcott, the Arsenal winger, said new teammate Gervinho will prove to be "a breath of fresh air" for the Gunners.

The Ivory Coast forward joined Arsene Wenger's side from Lille earlier this summer and opened his account with two goals on his debut against Cologne at the weekend.

Walcott, who set up Gervinho's second goal in the friendly, told arsenal.com: "He will be a breath of fresh air, I think. He looks a great talent. You can tell he can bring goals, he has got plenty of pace about him and he is very comfortable on the ball. I'm looking forward to playing with him."

Everton

David Moyes hopes a fully fit Victor Anichebe can provide Everton with a new dimension up front.

The Nigeria international has struggled with injuries since he required surgery on a knee problem after a tackle by Newcastle United's Kevin Nolan in February 2009. However, the 23 year old scored in Sunday's 3-1 win over DC United during Everton's tour of the United States.

"Victor has got great potential," Moyes, the manager, told the Liverpool Echo. "A lot of people in the US seeing him for the first time will have said 'Wow, what a player'. We know all about him. He is a very good player. He has had a few injuries but if he can get rid of those injuries then he has attributes which you cannot buy."

Stoke City

Tony Pulis, the Stoke manager, is keen to bring in "four or five" players. So far only the defender Jonathan Woodgate has arrived.

Pulis has been linked with a number of players, including Woodgate's former Tottenham Hotspur teammates Peter Crouch and Wilson Palacios, the Juventus midfielder Mohamed Sissoko and Birmingham City's Scott Dann.

"If by the end of August we haven't got four or five players in who can come in to the side and improve us, I will be very disappointed," said Pulis, whose side face Hadjuk Split in the Europa League third-round first-leg on Thursday.

"It's massively important not to be caught standing still, so we definitely want to be active if we can."

Wolves

Adlene Guedioura is to see a specialist to determine the extent of his ankle problem.

The 25-year-old Algerian midfielder suffered the setback when on African Cup of Nations qualifying duty for his country last month.

Guedioura has been unable to feature in any of Wolves' three pre-season friendlies to date.

Fulham

Fulham have confirmed the signing of Palermo midfielder Pajtim Kasami for an undisclosed fee. The 19-year-old Switzerland Under 21 international has signed a four-year deal which ties him to Craven Cottage until 2015.

Martin Jol, the Fulham manager, said: "Pajtim is a is a young, talented midfielder who has potential ... He is a versatile midfield player who can adapt quite easily to more than one position."

Queens Park Rangers

QPR yesterday signed Wales defender Danny Gabbidon from West Ham United on a free transfer. The 31-year-old centre-half has signed a one-year deal after his contract at Upton Park expired this summer.

Gabbidon, who had been training with QPR and played in three friendlies on the team's recent tour of Cornwall, told the club's website: "I'm delighted to be here. It's a good club. Hopefully I can learn more about it in the coming weeks. Hopefully I can bring experience to the table having played in the Premier League for a number of years."
