Al Jazira are ready to spend big as they look to strengthen their squad with Emirati signings for the 2014/15 Arabian Gulf League season under new coach Eric Gerets.
They have made a formal bid to sign Ismail Al Hammadi, the UAE international and Al Ahli forward in what is said would be one of the biggest deals for an Emirati player.
Al Hammadi, winner of the AGL’s Player of the Year award, had a key role in Ahli’s wins in the Arabian Gulf League and the Arabian Gulf Cup.
Jazira’s bid for Habib Fardan, another UAE international and Al Nasr midfielder, is likely to fall though after an official from the Dubai club said they did not want to sell. Jazira, however, said they were confident an agreement would be reached on Al Hammadi.
Meanwhile, Baniyas have signed Serbian Aleksander Ilic on a two-year deal for the first season of the Under 21 league, which replaces the reserve league from 2014/15.

Farage on Muslim Brotherhood
Nigel Farage told Reform's annual conference that the party will proscribe the Muslim Brotherhood if he becomes Prime Minister.
"We will stop dangerous organisations with links to terrorism operating in our country," he said. "Quite why we've been so gutless about this – both Labour and Conservative – I don't know.
“All across the Middle East, countries have banned and proscribed the Muslim Brotherhood as a dangerous organisation. We will do the very same.”
It is 10 years since a ground-breaking report into the Muslim Brotherhood by Sir John Jenkins.
Among the former diplomat's findings was an assessment that “the use of extreme violence in the pursuit of the perfect Islamic society” has “never been institutionally disowned” by the movement.
The prime minister at the time, David Cameron, who commissioned the report, said membership or association with the Muslim Brotherhood was a "possible indicator of extremism" but it would not be banned.
