The unlikely scenario that could mean Man City and Man United contest a play-off for fourth

Manchester City and Manchester United may be in a battle for the Premier League’s fourth place, but there is an unlikely scenario that could result in a play-off between the two rivals.

City, occupying fourth, take on Swansea City knowing a victory will guarantee a place in next season’s Uefa Champions League qualifying stage.

United, two points behind, need to defeat Bournemouth on Saturday evening and hope City slip up against Swansea to claim the coveted fourth spot.

However, as City’s Twitter account has pointed out, there is still the chance of a play-off between the two clubs should a very specific pair of results occur. Yes, it’s unlikely, but could you just imagine?
